Forget
about Audio CD's. Forget about MP3, Ogg Vorbis, WMA. This 2-CD-set features the best out of
more than 3000 submitted songs after a 4-months-3-pass-preselection - 1089 songs
in their native source format, mostly XM/IT, Buzz and MadTracker. No already
"compiled" formats such as e.g. MP3.
In opposition to audio-CD's or DAM-CD's from mp3.com (apart from the tiny
difference in number of songs ...) everybody can become a remixer. Just change
this bassline. Or make a drum'n'bass version of that trance-song. Or learn from
author xyz how he does those tricky breakbeats ...
Some famous names of contributing scene artists are Tokyo Dawn Records &
Tokyo2051, Wayfinder, Necros, Skaven, Awesome, Hunz, Park.Studios, Willbe,
Smash, Zipp, NoManiac, Kolabore, Coocane, Larph, RBi, Vim, Charlie Brown
Records, Distance, Subi, TbO & Vega, CJ Imperium, Force Ten ...
If you like to contact one of them - all email-adresses & URLs are included
at the CD as well as additional author info and a picture (if (s)he sent one).
Every author with own subdirectory (=at least 5 songs at the CD) has been rated
by 13 reviewers, where 10 of them are active musicians and did contribute to the
CD too. The average value is shown as "rating" graph at the author info.
This 2-CD-set is an enormous goldmine of inspirations for own songs, but of
course you could just plain listen to those songs, as an option :-) The included
Personal-Playlist-Generator not just shows additional info for every song and
starts the associated player/editor by doubleclick. It's main task is to
generate personal playlists by drag'n'drop. Those can be saved to a common .m3u
or .xmp and for use with your favourite player. But since some formats don't
have a player with playlist-import (z.B. MadTracker, Orion, Buzz) you can
optionally copy all songs of the current playlist to HD. Why this still makes
sense? Because the generated playlists are so brilliant :-) As you can see at
the screenshot on the left you can filter the songs-view. This example would
just show songs of authors with a rating bigger than 7, style bigbeat/chemical
beats, dnb/breakbeat, which match your current mood "cool, laid back", don't
contain vocals and are of filetype XM, IT or MT2. Now just drag all shown songs
from the left into the right pane - voila, you got your style- and
mood-dependend personal playlist! And it actually does work! :-)
Programs for playing those songs (ModPlug, Winamp, XMplay) as well as
editors/trackers (AXS, Buzz incl. all required machines, DreamStation,
FastTracker, Impulse Tracker, MadTracker, ModPlug, NoiseTrekker, Orion, Psycle,
TraxVox) are included too. Plug'n'Play". A mega-jukebox. Food for months! | |
