Typical Samplit recording
session (click to enlarge):
 |
All in one: SAMPLIT
makes automated sampling of your MIDI instruments or other instruments
(check the bottom of the page!) dead easy. Everything is here: automated recording and sample naming,
truncating, compression, normalization, looping, resampling, bitdepth
conversion and even playing.
SAMPLIT sends MIDI notes to the MIDI hardware, records all the
individual sounds and creates ready-to-play Sampler instruments with
just a few
mouse clicks. A typical SAMPLIT session is demonstrated at the
next page.
Formats: SAMPLIT projects can be exported to 9 different sampler formats:
 |
- Halion (Steinberg)
- EXS24 (Apple)
- Kontakt (Native Instruments)
- Sampletank (IK Multimedia)
- Reason (Propellerheads)
- VSampler (MAZ Sound Tools / Speedsoft)
- Soundfont SF2 (EMU)
- Gigasampler (Tascam)
- Structure (Digidesign)

MAZ special "SAMPLIT IN ACTION"
included (free!): If you buy SAMPLIT now, your registration-eMail
will contain a download link to a package of finest "physical
modelling" instruments from a Korg Prophecy in HALion + Kontakt +
VSampler format. In order to reduce the download size from 1 GB(!) down
to 93 MB this version uses VSamplers compressed .VC3 format,
instructions how to extract the samples to be used with HALion and
Kontakt are included.
Additional offer: You'll get the UNCOMPRESSED version of the
downloadable instruments package plus more (1.5 GB total) on
CDR for free, if you order at least one sampling-CD (which one
doesn't matter) at www.maz-sound.com - the CDR will be included! |
Quality: SAMPLIT uses the ASIO or MME driver on PC and the CoreAudio
driver on Mac.
- supported sampling rates: 44.1, 48, 96 kHz
(depending on your audio card)
- supported bit resolutions: 16, 24, 32 bits
(depending on your audio card)
And the best is, the project file itself stays untouched and can always be
converted to another format later. All operations on samples are non destructive. For
example you can record a piano in 96/24 and export to a nice 96/24 piano
in Kontakt format and a lighter 44/16 piano in SF2 format.
Interface:
The main window gives you a clear view of your current project. Anything
that you do has an immediate visual impact. You can add or remove a
velocity, select or deselect a note, listen to any sample (cursor keys for
navigation supported), erase a sample
that you don't like and re-record it ...

Recording: With SAMPLIT, you are in control. The recording window
allows you to adjust all the recording parameters in real time,
supported by the yellow threshold indicators (see screenshot): threshold
levels for recording start and end,
pre-recording time, post-recording time, recording time limit (audio),
note duration (Note Off), additional pause between the notes ... You can also decide if you want
to record by velocity or by note.

Advanced looping: SAMPLIT can automatically loop your samples
using a sophisticated looping algorithm designed to preserve the musicality
of your sounds. The picture below shows a complex orchestra string sound
that has been perfectly looped. See how the loop points have been set
where the waveform is similar.

Integrated player: SAMPLIT includes a simple player to test your
recorded instrument and to adjust basic parameters like the volume attack
and release time. You can also adjust the level of normalization (for
the loudest of all samples) and compression (for the relative volume of all
other samples)
to apply to the samples. Once you are satisfied with the results, you
can then convert to your favorite sampler format. The player is also usefull
to see how a new instrument will sound even if you have not finished recording
all the samples.

Sampling of multipe MIDI programs: Every program inside a project records the bank change, program
change and control change. When you select that program, all these MIDI
parameters are sent back to your MIDI synth like a total recall.
Sampling of VSTi/DXi or other soft-synths: You got certain soft-synths with
just one or two great sounds or you don't like to handle all the different
interfaces? Collect them all in your sampler! All you need to connect
SAMPLIT to your soft-synth is a virtual MIDI cable (e.g. the free
Maple Virtual
Midi Cable).
Sampling of Audio-CDs or "real world" sounds: SAMPLIT doesn't need a MIDI interface to
be a big time- and trouble-saver! You can record any kind
of non-MIDIfied sounds with the help of SAMPLITs automatic threshold detection
+ truncating + key mapping: Sampling-CDs in Audio-CD format, real instruments, human voice, special effects,
animals ...
Instrument design: SAMPLIT can record several instruments and
combine them to one instrument using Key switch or MIDI
controller switch or crossfade. For
example you can record 5 different piano sounds from your MIDI keyboard,
combine them in one new HALion instrument and use the Modwheel to switch
from one piano sound to another.
